"God was there from the Start"—Conversations with my Wife, Part 2

In this conversation, I interview Michelle on the role Daoism and Christianity played in her life growing up in Hong Kong and the US, and discover how God played a role right from the start.

Michelle grew up in Hong Kong, where she want to Catholic school.

Her Christian nanny Prisca taught her how to pray at a fairly early age, though while she didn’t feel connection with God, she kept on praying.

While Christianity was present, Chinese culture is full of Daoist rituals, superstition and belief in the spirits of the forefathers, creating a rich tapestry of diverging spiritual traditions right from the start.

As we talked, I came to see that God has been there for Michelle since the start, and that while those daily prayers felt disconnected to her, they must’ve made a difference, as grace has been present for her all along.

I enjoyed getting to know my wife better through this conversation, and believe it will serve you to discover how grace may have worked in your life as well—maybe right from the start.

Love,
Eivind & Michelle
